What is wrongful termination?
Wrongful termination means an unfair employment discharge. However, not every unfair situation is legally considered a wrongful termination. A legal right of the employee must be violated in order to pursue the termination in a lawsuit. Potential violations include public policy, contract breaches, breaking covenants of good faith and fair dealings, and discrimination. Possible discrimination charges occur for actions based on sex, age, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, pregnancy, and disability status.
