What is Quid Pro Quo sexual harassment?

Quid Pro Quo sexual harassment occurs when a job benefit is directly tied to unwelcome sexual advances, especially when two people are on different levels in the power hierarchy at the company. It occurs when an employer makes an evaluative decision, or provides or withholds professional opportunities based on an employee’s response to sexual advances. Examples of this type of harassment include a boss telling an employee that they will be fired if they do not go on a date together or a manager giving an employee a raise because of sexual interactions.
